Radon concentration unit converter

This radon concentration converter allows users to convert between the two most commonly encountered units for radon gas concentration:

  • becquerels per cubic metre (Bq/m³), used widely in the UK and many international contexts; and

  • picocuries per litre (pCi/L), used commonly in US-origin documentation, products, and guidance.

What this calculator does

Radon concentration is typically reported as an activity concentration in air. While the underlying quantity is the same, different regions and suppliers often present results in different units.

This calculator provides straightforward conversion using fixed unit relationships (no assumptions, no density factors, no correction factors).

Supported units

The calculator supports conversion between:

  • Bq/m³ (becquerels per cubic metre)

  • kBq/m³ (kilobecquerels per cubic metre)

  • pCi/L (picocuries per litre)

Conversion basis

Conversions are based on the standard relationship:

1 pCi/L = 37 Bq/m³

(and therefore 1 Bq/m³ ≈ 0.027 pCi/L).

  • comparing radon results reported in different units (e.g., UK measurement reports vs US-origin product information);
